Pauline, I agree completely with your post. Judy has done a fantastic
job of informing us re. the dues increase. It is now our job as
"professional" law librarians to show up at the business meetings. No
matter how you define a "professional" law librarian;(
degreed/non-degreed, MLS, JD, MLS/JD, etc.), professionals take the time
to be counted at their professions business meemeetings. I remember (my
kids hate it when I start like that) my first AALL business meeting - it
was standing room only. Last years attendance at the business meetings
was appalling, approximately 300 out of 3000 members. We must do better
then that if we want to wear the mantle of professional. For the record,
I was one of the 160? who voted against the increase last year,
primarily because I believed we deserved more information. No matter
what your position show up, be vocal and vote. Peace, Al Podboy,
Baker&Hostetler, Cleveland, Ohio, 216-861-7101 (speaking for myself)
