 MEMORANDUM

June 7, 1995

To: Directors of Law Libraries

From: Dorsey D. Ellis, Jr.

Re: Career Opportunity

After 20 years of distinguished service, Barney Reams has resigned
as Director of the Washington University Law Library, effective
August 31, 1995, to become Associate Dean, Professor of Law, and
Director of the Law Library at St. John's University in New York. In
light of Professor Reams' departure, we are undertaking a search to
fill an exciting new position, Associate Dean for Information
Services. In addition to having responsibility for the Law Library,
this individual will also be responsible for the increasing computer
and audio-visual services for the School of Law.

We are looking for an individual with vision, excellent managerial
skills, an entrepreneurial drive, and an ability to coordinate and
integrate the delivery of legal information to faculty, students, and
other users as we prepare our move to a new state-of-the-art law
building in academic year 1996-97. Candidates must have a J.D.
degree, as well as significant experience with information
technology. This position reports directly to the Dean and will be
one of the senior administrative positions in the School of Law.
Salary and benefits will be competitive.

If you know of any qualified individuals who might be interested in
this position, please have them send a resume to Associate Dean Dan
Keating, Washington University School of Law, Campus Box 1120, St.
Louis, Missouri 63130. Dean Keating, who has been appointed Interim
Director of the Law Library, will be in Pittsburgh next month at the
AALL convention to meet with interested candidates. If you have any
questions about the position, you may call Dean Keating at (314)
935-6481.

We greatly appreciate any help that you can provide us in
identifying potential candidates.
