There was a brief report about this in the Lawyer's Weekly (Canadian legal
newspaper). It said that an e-mail address would be set up for every
lawyer listed in Martindale-Hubbell. This address will be based on each
lawyer's "International Standard Lawyer Number" (I am not sure if this is
the exact terminology since I can't find the article at the moment - sounds
like an ISBN for lawyers). If the lawyer does not "yet" have a Lexis
Counsel Connect account, the e-mail message will be printed out and mailed
to the lawyer via snail mail.
I was shocked to read this. It seems like the electronic equivalent of
setting up a post office box for lawyers without their consent.
