RE: AALL/Oceana International Organizations Institute text
The AALL/Oceana International Organizations 1994 summer institute
text manuscript is currently in the final stages of proof. Both
organizations regret the delay in publication of this work and
are making every possible attempt to have it available for the
Pittsburgh meeting in July.
In crafting the joint sponsorships of AALL/Oceana international,
foreign and comparative law institutes, an agreement was
embraced by both organizations to produce a working reference
and resource text for each institute. These institute texts were
and are intended to serve the library community as a whole and
to meet the information needs of all librarians. To meet this
goal, institute contributors, under the guidance and direction
of the individual institute coordinators, would expand and
develop their presentations to form a prescriptive text in their
respective areas of expertise.
During the past year, and now under the guidance and direction of
the AALL executive staff, contributing authors to this work have
painstakingly endeavored to re-evolve the originally submitted
manuscript from a series of proceedings and papers to an expert,
authoritative text for librarians and researchers involved in
building, maintaining, and enhancing their international,
foreign and comparative law collections. Reflective of the high
standard of law librarianship that unites the AALL's membership,
many contributors to the work have requested of the AALL and
Oceana an opportunity to update their manuscripts with the
inclusion of recent developments and materials affecting their
specific areas of expertise. The executive staffs of the AALL
and Oceana share in this vision and are now processing these
revised manuscripts.
