The Technical Services Subgroup of the Private Law Librarians Special
Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries would like
to know if there would be interest in having a separate listserv just for
law firm technical services librarians.
As chair of this subgroup, I can see advantages and disadvantages of such
a list. The main advantage would be that a listserve would provide a
place for dialog strictly for tech services issues regarding law and the
private sector. The major disadvantage is that it would exclude academics
and it is another list to read. It is necessary? Also, we could open it
up to include all types of law libraries. Our only reason for the initial
limitation is that we are hoping that funding will be provided by our
PLL budget if there is a enough interest.
We will be discussing this and other internet resources at our
business meeting in Pittsburgh at the AALL annual meeting but I am
interested in your ideas. Thanks.
