                      POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

                       Documents Librarian
          Rutgers University Law School Library--Newark

Duties: Responsible for all aspects of the Law Library's
government documents collections, including federal and New Jersey
depository operations, acquisitions, processing, organization, and
reference service. Also assists users with location and use of
microforms whether governmental or not. Supervises one full-time
associate. Participates in main reference desk duty and in weekend
reference rotation. (Weekend work includes circulation and
supervisory duties.) Some evening hours may be required.
Compilation of bibliographies and user guides. Preparation of
exhibits. Occasional bibliographic instruction.

Terms: Full-time, calendar year, minimum salary $39,184, standard
academic fringe benefits, 22 days vacation. Tenure-track position;
initial appointment for three years at rank of Librarian III,
equivalent to Assistant Professor; scholarship required for
reappointment and tenure.

Required: M.L.S. and a minimum of one year of government documents
experience; familiarity with legal information sources; strong
service orientation, good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable: J.D.; law school library or legislative library
experience; demonstrated scholarship.
