EAST - WEST REVIEW OF SOCIAL POLICY
Social security schemes are under serious discussion in Western
countries. Are they not too expensive? Do they contribute in
an efficient way to re-integration of persons into working
life?
Social security is also a hot issue in Eastern European countries,
although they are in another stage off development. In the
Eastern European countries the process of transition from State
economies to market economies is not yet finished.
As in both types of States social security schemes are in a transition
period, we have a common element for debate, research, education
etc.
Alongside with social security the journal deals with aspects of
employment law. Employment law and social security law are indeed
closely related, as can be seen from the example of unemployment
benefits and old age pensions.
Now there is a forum for this debate, the
EAST WEST REVIEW OF SOCIAL
POLICY.
This review will appear twice a year and each issue will be dedicated
to a particular topic. The first issue will appear in September 1995
and will concern voluntary social security.
The second is on unemployment (January 1996) and the third on health
protection (August 1996).
Each copy will have about 144 pages and the subscription fee is $
110 per annum. ISSN 1381 5709
The editors are prof Andrezj Swiatkowski from Jagiellonski
University (Cracow, Poland), and Frans Pennings (Tilburg University,
the Netherlands).

mentioned, or if you have book reviews, announcements of a
