Just did a demo yesterday to our staff about the joys of retrieving
EDGAR filings. I emphasized FTP over e-mail access. The question
came up, "how frequently are the filings loaded?" I thought
24 hours since the company files electronically with the SEC but
now I want to confirm this. The company index file (takes over an
hour to transfer to my PC) is our starting point. I obtain it
weekly due to time constraints and a low level of requests (at this
point) so we're a week behind but it has worked out OK so far.
While I'm asking, has anyone considered the Moody's EDGAR online subscription
access bit? I'm not real clear how this works but since the steps are
a little cumbersome and the data is slightly garbled in terms of
formatting, I know we are interested in vendors who might take the time
and re-market this info via a net account (and not charge as much as
Lexis or Disclosure doc. delivery). Any input is appreciated.
