Attention All Present and Past Members of CRIV:
The AALL Committee on Relations with Information Vendors (CRIV)
is looking for an editor for the committee's newsletter, THE CRIV
SHEET. The position will be a 3-year appointment beginning in
July of this year, with the first year being a co-editorship with
the current CRIV SHEET editor, Ken Svengalis.
Candidates should be thoroughly familiar with current trends in
the legal publishing industry, as well as with the needs of the
Law Library community. Candidates should also be familiar with
the work of the CRIV, and recognize its vital role as a
communicator and mediator between these two groups. In addition,
candidates must demonstrate successful experience in law library
publishing and/or editing. The editor will work closely with the
AALL NEWSLETTER staff, as well as with CRIV SHEET contributors.
The editor must be able to meet deadlines and be able to
motivate others to do the same. Additional skills sought include
the ability to manage multiple tasks at once, the ability to
organize information into a readable format, and attention to
detail.
THE CRIV SHEET is published 3 times a year, each issue consisting
of 16 pages. It is distributed as an insert inside the AALL
NEWSLETTER and, thus, goes to every member of the Association.
Regular contributors include members of the committee ("Questions
& Answers," "Cost-Saving Tips," "From the Chair," and "Complaint
Summaries"), as well as non-CRIV members. In addition, the
editor writes "The Editor's Corner" column for each issue.
Peter Beck, AALL Manager of Publications and Public Relations,
and Richard Vaughan, current CRIV Chair, will review applications
and make a decision as quickly as possible. If you are
interested in this position, please send a cover letter and
samples of your writing/editing to:
