OPEN POSITION
Head of Reader Services
Western New England College has an opening for the positon of Head of
Reader Services.
REQUIREMENTS: MLS for an ALA-accredited library school, JD from an ABA-
accredited law school, and a minimum of three years of prior relevant law
library experience required. Substantial knowledge of computer-assisted
legal research and familiarity with computers and software expected. Strong
service orientation and demonstrated supervisory skills essential.
DUTIES: The Head of Reader Services reports directly to the Associate Law
Librarian and has general responsibility for the public services aspects of
the library's operations. Specifically, he/she shall provide reference
service to the faculty, students, members of the legal profession, and the
public; work with the faculty on a regular basis concerning the solution of
complex bibliographic problems; instruct and assist library users in techniques
and sources of bibliographic access to the holdings of the library collection
and the use of computerized legal research systems; prepare pathfinders and
other in-house publications; oversee the operation of the word processing
center; supervise the work of the Reference Librarian, the Collection Services
Librarian, and two Circulation Managers; hire and supervise student assistants;
and establish and implement reference and circulation policies and procedures.

Meeting in Boston.
