LEXIS/NEXIS Services to Offer Site on World Wide Web

DAYTON, OH--July 14, 1994--LEXIS/NEXIS services, the leading online
legal, news and business information service, announced today it will introduce
a site on the World Wide Web early in August. The site, called the LEXIS/NEXIS
Communication Center, can be accessed by any graphical or character-based Web
bowser. This communication link to the company will allow subscribers and
others to communicate with company representatives through E-mail or find
information about the company and its services on their own.

"We recognize the importance of the Internet and we are moving in the
direction of making data available through a myriad of information channels,"
said Joseph C. Rhyne, vice president-general manager of Business Information
for LEXIS/NEXIS services. "We believe our Communication Center on the Web will
be a useful tool for Internet users."

Surfers on the Internet who access the site can send e-mail messages
to LEXIS/NEXIS customer service regarding problems, questions or literature
requests. A variety of LEXIS/NEXIS telephone numbers are also listed for
those who prefer voice contact. Information is also provided to assist users
with subscribing to the LEXISUSER-L mailing list provided by Washburn
University in Kansas. LEXISUSER-L provides an electronic forum for users of
the LEXIS/NEXIS system to discuss their online experiences and share their
concerns and expertise with other users.

Via a simple point and click, current customers can also connect
directly to the actual LEXIS/NEXIS online service through Telnet at several
locations in the site.

Another menu option on the site, Frequently Asked Questions, lists the
top technical and general questions asked about LEXIS/NEXIS, ranging from "How
do I find a particular newspaper online?" to "What communications parameters
does LEXIS/NEXIS require?" For those unfamiliar with the service, who are not
looking for answers to such specific questions, menu options such as
"Background Information about LEXIS/NEXIS," "LEXIS/NEXIS Library Contents,"
and "Alpha List of LEXIS/NEXIS Sources" will provide plenty of browsing
opportunities for the uninitiated.

A Commands Guide on the menu provides definitions of LEXIS/NEXIS
commands for new subscribers or for those who need a refresher. Another
option provides information specially for users at educational institutions,
such as schedules of LEXIS/NEXIS training sessions for faculty and forms for
ordering educational materials.

Also available via the Communication Center are LEXIS/NEXIS
announcements, news releases and company-published newsletters all listed in
reverse chronological order. The newsletters can be retrieved by calling up
an entire issue or by an individual article. The newsletters, and everything
available on the Communication Center, can be saved to a user's file or
printed in a variety of formats, including Postscript if the user is accessing
the site using a GUI such as Mosaic or Cello. If the user is accessing the
site using a character-based browser such as Lynx, they can choose to have any
page or document mailed to an e-mail ID of his or her choice.

The site will also provide several files that may be freely downloaded
via anonymous FTP. These files may include Folio Infobase Viewers with various informational fields, word processing versions of newsletters, and may in the
future include LEXIS/NEXIS communication software.

The address for the LEXIS/NEXIS site is http://www.meaddata.com/.
Users who do not have access to the World Wide Web, but do have access to
Internet e-mail may take advantage of this communication tool by sending an
e-mail message to help@meaddata.com for Customer Service or to
sales@meaddata.com for reference literature or to request a call from a Sales
representative.

Available August 4, the site will be demonstrated at the American Bar
Association conference during that day at the New Orleans Convention Center.

LEXIS and NEXIS are registered trademarks of Mead Data Central.
