Reference Librarian
one-year appointment
Duties: Provides general and in-depth reference service in Anglo-
American law to faculty, students, and other users of this large
research law library. Provides general reference assistance in
Foreign and International Law. Searches legal, bibliographic, and
other databases; trains law students and others in the use of legal
materials, legal databases, and networked resources; prepares
bibliographies and instructional materials; assists with the
coordination of interlibrary loan transactions; and performs other
related duties. Shares departmental administrative
responsibilities with other reference librarians on a rotating
basis. Reports to the Law Librarian. Member of a busy Reference
Department consisting of 5 professionals and 2.5 support staff.
Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required.
Required: an accredited JD and an accredited MLS; excellent
communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; a strong
service orientation; familiarity with legal research materials and
services; training and experience in WESTLAW and LEXIS; and
familiarity with personal computers and local online systems.
Preferred: familiarity with the Internet; working knowledge of one
or more foreign languages.
Salary ranges are: Librarian I: $31,500-$40,950; Librarian II:
$33,500-$45,225. Excellent benefits include assistance with
