Australian Civil Procedure

I am posting this question for someone who doesn't have access.
We have a fairly extensive Australian collection, but I can't seem to find
the answer.
The question is: In a case where liability has been determined and
the issue has gone through all the possible appeals, but the issue of
damages has not yet been decided, is the liability issue considered to
be a final judgment for the purposes of res judicata?
I have looked in Cairns, Australian Civil Procedure, but it doesn't seem
to get quite that specific. What I am trying to find is the Australian
equivalent to Wright and Miller. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
