Subject: RE: Secretaries on LEXIS

Only two of our secretaries have ids and they were set up for specific
purposes. One does the Lexis billing for our membership group and attorney
search program. She uses payback to get the charges before we get the bill.
The other is the placement secretary who has an id to access Martindale
Hubbell. We have considered having secretaries run Checkcite and Westcheck
on professor's law review articles and book supplements, but not having
them do general searching. I would be real leary of trying to train
them to do general searching. But I would like to know how it turns
out.

Subject: Secretaries on LEXIS

Do any schools have programs in which secretaries are given assignments to sear
ch LEXIS & WESTLAW, are provided passwords and are trained? Some professors he
re have requested that secretaries use LEXIS & WESTLAW and we are considering h
ow that function should be supported properly. I'm very interested in your com
ments.
