Subject: electronic copyright collections of public domain material
The next three messages on this subject relate to a recent judgement
issued by the United States District Court for the Northern District
of California. The judgement concerns a suit by World Library against
Pacific Hitech alledging infringment of copyright because Pacific HiTech
retrieved documents off the Internet which alledgedly came from a
CD produced and copyrighted by World Library.
The messages are
1) A press release from World Library stating their opinion of what
the judgement says. Reposted with permission from World Library.
2) The actual text of the judgment, and
3) My opinion on the effect of the judgement.
