Internet at AALL

Addicted to e-mail? Don't worry about going into withdrawal while
you're in Boston -- come to the Internet Room! We'll be located
in the back of Exhibit Hall A and open basically the same hours
as the exhibit hall. The major exception is Tuesday morning, when
an education program will be taking place.

Thanks to our friends at West, Mead Data, and Apple, we have lots
of machines to work with. Each will be set up with an easy DOS
menu, with instruction sheets taped to the tables next to each
machine. You will be able to use NCSA Telnet, NCSA TN3270, and
Gopher. A number of law library/school sites (such as Cornell and
Washington and Lee) have been pre-configured for easy access.

People who currently have Internet accounts will be able to check
in with their home system and check mail. Those with Compuserve
or MCI-mail accounts won't be able to do that, and some people
with Bitnet accounts may not be able to connect (it depends on
how the university is networked). But _everyone_ will be able
to connect to gophers and telnet sites and explore some of the
systems available on the net.

If you plan to check in on your home system from Boston, you need to
know the following information before you come:

1. The host name and IP address of your host system. If you
don't know, ask someone at the computer center. Tell them
you need to connect to your system from a remote site.

2. Whether you need TELNET or TN3270 connections. This makes a
    big difference!

If you have any questions before you come, contact me at amyers@acs.bu.edu.
If not, we'll see you next weekend in Boston!
