             CONNECTING LIBRARIES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
                          TO THE INTERNET:

                         INFORMATION NEEDED.

At the June 1993 biennial meeting of the World Criminal Justice Library
Network, it was resolved that the Network attempt to procure funding to
connect member libraries to the Internet. Further, that the WCJLN admin-
ister this funding in the form of grants to individual member institutions
on the basis of need. We anticipate that the bulk of the need will be
from members located in developing regions of the world.

As the first step in writing the grant proposal, I am looking for
individuals and institutions outside of the United States which have
access to the Internet. I am particularly interested in knowing the
mechanisms by which you obtain access, i.e. via a network or other
means, the approximate one-time and on-going cost you incurred to
access the Internet, the approximate amount of time per week you
spend on the internet, and the primary purposes for which you use it,
i.e. e-mail, ftp, telnet, etc. Any information that will help me
determine the amount of money needed, and the best method of access
for individual institutions will be useful.

Please respond directly to me, DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS LIST.

Thank you,
