Cataloging argument

Sorry if this seems frivolous but I'm butting heads with our cataloger
over the classification of some California reporters. Evidently LC (kneel
when you say that) has classed California Reports (1d - 4d series)
separately: KFC 45 A21, A22, A23, A24 but California Appellate Reports as
one series all with the call number KFC 48 A212. Doesn't make sense to
me, but hey, I'm not a cataloger, only trying to explain library use to
patrons and staff. I'd prefer to see Cal App done like Cal.

Those of you who own the sets and classify using LC, how have you done it?
If you've followed LC's example, can you 'splain why? E-mail please, I
doubt many others on the list are terribly interested.

Thank You.
