I asked for, and received, permission to write-protect files on our
network which I want retained for memo-bank purposes. I added a "dummy"
extension to the file name so that all files with that extension would
not be archived off the system. I "surf" our system weekly for new
memos, briefs & opinion letters for the memo bank, and then ask the
author if the document is final. If it is, then I write protect it then,
otherwise I wait. So far it's working.
