"Thomas" is the Library of Congress WWW server at

     http://thomas.loc.gov

For text and status of legislation, though, I would suggest the
U.S. House of Representatives WWW server

     http://www.house.gov

or the House gopher server at

     gopher.house.gov (port 70)

(The House WWW site also has a law library that some folks have spoken
well of, which can be accessed directly at

Does anyone know of a gopher or ftp site name Thomas.. which has status
reports and full text of federal legislation? There was a blip on it on
PBS last week and an attorney wants the details athough I told him there
