I have a patron who would like a list of all the states that have
bail-bond companies. The patron believes that such companies are not
allowed in Illinois but exist, at least, in Georgia. These companies
put up the bail money, with the person in jail paying 10% to the
company--not a court.
In the _Encyclopedia of Legal Information Sources_, a bail directory
is listed, _ABBA Directory_. We do not own this directory. Would it
contain a state by state listing of bail companies?
Any leads appreciated.
