Position: Director of Law Library
Description: Responsible for providing library services to the
School of Law. The Director's responsibilities include
overall management of the Law Library with a strong
service orientation. The Director will also have
other responsibilities which may include
reference service, teaching and other
responsibilities.
Qualifications: (1) JD; (2) MLS; and (3) A minimum of two years
administrative experience, preferably in a law library.
Degrees must be from accredited schools.
Salary: Competitive.

Benefits: This is a twelve month academic appointment. The
position is tenure-track depending on qualifications.

Library: The Law Library staff consists of two
professionals in addition to the Director and
two technicians plus student assistants. The
collection is over 118,267 volumes
and the materials budget is $230,000.
Significant additional funding has been
approved by the Board of Regents and will be
available for use in the Library.
The Library houses a student Computer Lab and
uses a Dynix automated catalog.
The School: The School of Law was established in 1911. It
has been accredited by the AALS since 1914 and the ABA since
1923. The School is one of seven professional
schools which, along with the College of Arts and
Sciences, comprise The University of Montana. The
School of Law offers a dynamic professional
program, combining traditional and innovative
approaches to law curriculum and teaching. The
curriculum is designed to produce graduates
competent in the knowledge, skills, and personal
qualities expected of a lawyer. The school has
a student body of 225 and a full-time faculty of
15, including the Dean and the Associate Dean.
