COMPUTER SERVICES/SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN
DUTIES: Provide support for the Law Library Computer Lab and classroom
(both facilities utilize DOS and Macintosh platforms, with 28 workstations
in the lab and 16 in the classroom); provide systems support for the Law
Library's online integrated system, Innopac; participates in the
development, teaching and supervision of instructional programs in
WordPerfect, MS Word, and online databases (e.g. Lexis and Westlaw) in
cooperation with other Library and Law Center computer services staff;
answer questions concerning use of the local area network, IBM and
Macintosh microcomputers, software and databases; troubleshoot hardware
and software problems as they occur in the computer lab, classroom and
throughout the Law Library; recommend and implement software applications
for faculty and library staff research and instruction; evaluate Library
hardware needs; supervise and train student computer lab assistants;
assists with basic legal reference services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer MLS or MLS and JD from ALA and ABA accredited schools;
demonstrated technical knowledge of and experience with DOS and Macintosh
operating systems, hardware and software; excellent written, oral
communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with a variety of
people and strong service orientation.
DESIRABLE: Knowledge and experience with Unix, Novell Netware, Innopac,
WordPerfect, MS Word, Lexis, Westlaw, legal bibliography.
