        ITCS Offers First Internet Training in Alabama!

Internet Training & Consulting Services of Tuscaloosa, AL, the
only Internet training company based in the Deep South, is
offering two full-day training seminars open to the general public
on February 10th and 11th. The seminars will be presented by
the director of ITCS, Elizabeth Lane Lawley, co-author of
_Internet Primer for Information Professionals_, who brings over
two years of Internet training experience to the presentations.

The seminar includes a full day of lecture and demonstration, an
extensive course workbook, a diskette full of Internet-related
text files and utilities, and 30 days of follow-up technical
support for all participants, all for the single registration fee
of $175. (A 20% discount is available for registrations received
or postmarked before January 27, 1994.) The seminars will be held
at Alabama's premiere conference facility, the Paul W. Bryant
Conference Center in Tuscaloosa.

Topics covered in the seminar include:
  * An overview of current and proposed information networks,
     ranging from the Internet and its related networks to NREN,
     and the NII.
  * A "non-techie's" guide to network technology and terminology.
  * Clear explanations of different levels of network connections
     and their costs and benefits.
  * An introduction to the mechanics of electronic mail, mailing
     lists, newsgroups, and other communication tools.
  * Explanations of network searching tools, including online
     libraries and databases, and user-freindly applications like
     Gopher, WAIS, and World Wide Web.
  * Explanations of file retrieval tools, such as FTP and Archie.

In addition, the February 10th seminar will focus on uses of the
Internet for academic and educational purposes, while the February
11th seminar will focus on business applications and uses of
Internet resources.
