I would like to bring three publications to your attention:
THE LAWYER AND POPULAR CULTURE: PROCEEDINGS OF A CONFERENCE edited by David
L. Gunn and published by Fred B. Rothman & Co., is available. The
conference, the first of its kind, was hosted by Tarlton, January 7-8, 1992,
and attended by nearly one hundred attorneys, judges, academics and
librarians. The proceedings contains the papers of fourteen experts who
participated in the conference. Contents include various portrayals of
lawyers and the legal system in novels, movies, and television programs.
Tarlton has two new publications in its Bibliography series that might be of
interest:
(1) AIDS BIBLIOGRAPHY: SECOND EDITION. In recent years, acquired immune
deficiency syndrome (AIDS) has become a fact of life affecting hundreds of
thousands of Americans. The Bibliography Second Edition, compiled by Arthur
S. Leonard of New York Law School, identifies articles from the popular and
academic presses that deal with the social, political and legal
ramifications of AIDS (Publication #37; 97 pages).
and forthcoming,
(2) CHILD WITNESSES. Extensively annotated and topically arranged (child
witnesses - general; children's credibility; videotaped testimony; preparing
children for court; direct confrontation), this bibliography provides access
to a wide variety of citations on children as witnesses. Compiled by the
staff of the Texas Legal Resource Center for Child Abuse and Neglect,
Beecher Threatt, Executive Director (approximately 40 pages).
