Why do I feel like my name has been taken in vain?!? IMHO (IN MY HUMBLE
OPINION - an e-mail no-no, as long time Law-lib watchers know), maybe it is
time to examine, ponder, discuss, dismiss, etc. exactly what it is we all expect from this list. It does some things well. It does not seem to do others.
I'm sure a lot of people would disagree over what those things are. Clearly, the nature of the list is like that mythical New England town meeting, everyone
can have their say. If you don't like it, don't read it, delete it or
unsubscribe (is that a word?). Personal attacks, political posturing from
the left or right or up or down, and I don't know what else, present problems.
Personally, if people want to post what they ate for breakfast, I can live with
that. No one ever said democracy was easy.
One thing I do know. A lot of people read this list. At AALS in San Francisco
everyone I talked to seemed to ask about the Red Sox Outing. It might be useful
for people to keep that in mind when they send off THEIR HUMBLE OPINION!
Or maybe not! Life is so complex. I think my four year old daughter said
it best,"Chill Dudes, you're making me nervous!"
