Anne--

My first question is: why do you still have a department called "Serials?" Do
you really process only things in the serials format, or all continuations? Is
your technical services staff that huge that they need to be re-grouped into s
mall departments?

At Cornell all the tasks that involve adding call numbers, bookplates, bookstam
ps, etc. are done by students, supervised by a cataloger who happens to be exce
ptionally well organized and works well with students. It helps that she under
stands bibliographic records and holdings records well, so she can solve proble
ms associated with end processing.
