I am preparing a presentation on secondary sources for our new Advanced
Research Techniques class on Thursday (1/21). Because I am a relatively
new law librarian (1.5 years), I haven't developed a loyalty to either
AmJur or CJS and wondered if more experienced librarians could share their
biases with me. If you tend to refer patrons or consult one yourself,
what is your basis for choosing (convenience, habit, advantages and
disadvantages based on experience)?
Also, do law firm libraries tend to collect materials from one publisher:
Lawyers Co-op to support their Total Client Service Library or West
because of their key number system? Or are collections a mixture based on
the strengths of the publications and the history of the firm and partners'
needs/wants?
Please respond to me directly. Thanks in advance.
