We don't have a policy here, but I think it should be similar to the
policy we have for handing out faculty and staff phone numbers. Individual
faculty and staff members decide whether they want their private lines
in the university phone book or a more general one answered by a receptionist/
circ desk. If its listed, anyone with a phone book can look it up. In
general, if asked, we give out phone numbers to other faculty and staff
who ask, but we don't give phone numbers to students or vendors or John
Q. Public who asks for it.
