The Paul L. Boley Law Library at the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis
& Clark College is seeking applications for the position of Associate
Director of the Law Library.
Requirements are: M.L.S. and J.D. from accredited programs and three to
five years of professional law library experience, preferably in an
academic law library. In addition, experience with personnel management
and budget administration, and excellent communication and interpersonal
skills are required. Demonstrated teaching and computer database
searching skills are necessary, and experience with Innovative Interfaces
or similar library automation systems is desirable.
Responsibilities: To relieve the Director of and be responsible for the
day-to-day management of the Law Library and Computing Services
Department. Includes administration for a staff of 19 and a budget of
$1.8 million. Interpret and implement Library policies and respond to
student, faculty and staff concerns and complaints. Develop preliminary
budget, participate in budget meetins and monitor ongoing expenditures.
Work on short and long term planning issues to achieve Library and
Computing Services goals. The position also involves a teaching role in
the Advanced Legal Research course, and works at the Reference Desk in
rotation with other professional staff.
