Friends:
We're pleased to announce that James Milles, Head of Computer Services
for the Saint Louis University Law Library, has joined the Legal
Information Institute as its Director for Collection Development.
Jim will be functioning as a "virtual librarian" in a literal sense,
working with us here at Cornell while continuing at his home base in
Saint Louis. He will have significant input into the development of
our electronic collection, as well as helping us with problems
involved with organizing and cataloging Net resources for the benefit
of the diverse Internet audience: legal professionals, foreign legal
scholars and professionals, researchers, corporate managers, and
ordinary citizens. Jim will act as a liaison with the library
community as we continue to foster three-way collaboration between
librarians, computing professionals, and legal scholars as a working
process for providing legal information on the Net. We are also
hoping that Jim will advise us as we plan future institutional
structures which will promote the acquisition of Internet expertise as
a recognized form of professional development for law librarians.
Regards,
Peter W. Martin
Thomas R. Bruce
