An academic law librarian just asked us if we knew what other institutions
had non-autonomous law libraries. We know there are others, but don't know
the names of any. Are there any other such animals besides the University of
Kentucky Law Library you on the list may know?
If the concept is foreign to you, I mean law libraries that report to other
administrators besides those in a college of law. U of Ky. receives most of
its budget from the library system; the librarians (except head) and staff
are hired and paid by library system; automation expenses are maintained
by the library system. The law school provides housing
and maintenance to furniture, carpeting, and some office supplies.
Usually there is a supplement to the book budget of about 9% . Hand-me-down
equipment is occasionally offered.
If you are "non-autonomous" or know of such a library, please reply to me,
SEXTON@UKCC.UKY.EDU and not to the list. Thank you ahead of time.
