David Lowe,
Following your thread, I too often have trouble with LEXIS via modem
which I do not have with WESTLAW. L seems to have more trouble
returning the modem to factory settings. I've got some rogue
piece of telecommunications software that sets my modems at carrier
detect high. L can't seem to get through this, though W doesn't seem to
have any problem. I often have to rewrite the fac specs to the modem
just so L can operate it, though W just keeps on trucking. My knowledge
of telecommunications and modems is just above voodoo and blackmagic so
I can't be of much help except to say that I have the same problems. Maybee
they could write a different prefix string which would reinitialize the modem, but, as I said, I sure don't know. Lucky I only have two terminals on modems
with the rest on a local node, which hardly ever seems to fail.
