The Notre Dame Law Library canceled all but about 5 state Shepards in
March 1992. After almost a year of living without them, we have heard only
a very few complaints and have no intention of reinstating the standing
order. Our biggest concern prior to canceling was teaching legal research
without them, but we managed this past fall without any real difficulty.
Given the escalating cost of state Shepards, I think this was a very good
decision for our library.
