Re: "Virtual" law library

I must agree with Frank Houdek. I'm in a firm library that is beginning
to network and contemplate the wonders of networked CDROM - and hopingt
that such items will cut down on our overall expenses online. It appears
to me that many of the treatise and secondary source material will be
a long time in coming in an electronic format. By long time I estimate
10 to 15 years. In the grand scheme that is nothing. In electronic
time that is an eon. I'm beginning to think about the trade offs of price
versus immediate access. Is it better to purchase that CDROM product that
will allow 4 to 6 simultaneous users and DROP the paper product or must I
maintain both ad infinitum? Questions I certainly don't have the answers
to but on which I can speculate no end. Will CDROM replace cases? My
best guess is that we will have the bound Nat'l Reporter system till I'm
long dead. Too many people like the "look and feel" of the book. I certainly
haven't seen the drop off in book use. But I blather. I look forward to
seeing more speculation on this subject.
