This is a very interesting development. Thanks for the information about
the NYTimes article. I agree that we need to be careful about "replacing"
print with electronic media. Not only are they subject to change, but
formats change, protocols, etc. It can get very dicey in the future.
Imagine a future where new search engines evolve way beyond where we are
now. Could we end up with a system where the online services of the
1990's are as obsolete as documents created/archived on "mag cards"?
This gives a whole new meaning to the word "ephemeral" doesn't it?
