     Job Description: Reference/Computer Services Librarian

The Law Library, University of Colorado, Boulder, invites
applications for the position of Reference/Computer Services
Librarian. This full-time position is a member of the reference
staff with responsibility for managing and coordinating all Law
Library computer resources and services. The position reports to
the Head of Public Services. The specific duties of the
Reference/Computer Services Librarian include:

--Providing reference services to the law school user community
through regularly scheduled reference desk hours and individual
appointments. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

--Training students, librarians, and staff on legal and non-legal
databases, internet resources, computer-based materials (CD-ROMs,
interactive video, etc.), and word processing programs; writing
manuals, guides and/or pathfinders to these resources.

--Supervising and maintaining the library's computers, including
the computer labs and internal automation systems; ensuring
proper functioning of all software and hardware; coordinating
WESTLAW and LEXIS training and services, and supervising student
representatives; coordinating with campus computer services.

--Advising on long-range planning and policy matters concerning
computer-based resources, including hardware; overseeing the
planning for, and installation and maintenance of, a library LAN;
recommending acquisition of databases, software, and computer-
based resources.

--Supervising library staff or student workers, as needed.

--Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: M.L.S. or equivalent degree from ALA-accredited
library school. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Preference will
be given to applicants with experience or education in managing
computer systems, WESTLAW, LEXIS, INNOPAC and/or computer-based
researching. J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and/or
significant law library experience highly desirable.

This is a twelve-month, non-tenure-track appointment with the
faculty rank of Law Library Instructor. It carries a three-year,
renewable contract. Benefits include generous vacation, holiday,
and sick leave; TIAA-CREF retirement program; travel allowances;
and University-sponsored insurance. Salary is competitive.
