We are attempting to gather information on passport stamping policies,
especially practices for U.S. Citizens entering or leaving Germany,
Austria and Switzerland. We need to supply certified information to the
U.S. Tax Authorities about these practices. We have spoken with the
foreign embassies who will state verbally that they often do not stamp
U.S. passports but are unwilling to put anything in writing. Other
contacts with state departments and travel agencies have proven to be
equally frustrating. We have been referred to travel guides but are
looking for something more official. Can anyone offer any suggestions
for gathering this information or resources to try? Any help would be
