Mark & LAWLIB -
Note that the people that seem to not like the idea of the new
PRIVATELAWLIB list aren't private law librarians!
As a private firm law librarian I just wanted to thank you for setting
up this list. I think many private firm librarians will probably feel freer
to post messages to the list know they won't be cluttering up everyone's
mail box with messages that aren't relevant to the whole group. I thought
there was a need for a private law lib list, but wasn't sure who would
sponsor it. I appreciate the fact that you're taking this on.
While the traffic on LAWLIB is relatively low and easily manageable, I
think overall traffic will increase due to lists set up for our specific
interests.
I have enjoyed reading about issues that are relevant to other types of
libraries, and will probably continue to subscribe to LAWLIB. But I might
suggest that those academics and others who are interested in Private Law
Library issues should certainly subscribe to PRIVATELAWLIB, but others
who aren't won't have to take the time to cull their mail boxes of such
messages.
I think the idea of a new list is great!
