A new Meckler book contains useful information for those who are seeking
to automate smaller libraries. It is entitled PC-Based Integrated Library
Systems, by Marshall Breeding. (It is v. 13 of the Essential Guide to the
Library IBM PC series.) I am posting this info. because it looks like a
good buy for those seeking information in this area. The price is about
$33 for this paperback.

>From the Preface: "This volume was written as an intro. to integrated
systems, concentrating on those that operate on PC-compatible
microcomputers. The main audience I have in mind are those in the process
of selecting and implementing an automated system in a library as well as
those that already use an integrated library system and need to gain a
better understanding of this type of software."

The author describes all the modules that such a system should contain,
and gives basic info. about specific systems -- modules available,
features of each, no. of libraries using it, size of company, prices,
addresses, etc.
