How interesting that you posted your query when you did. My computer
locked up while I was entering an announcement last evening about Automatome
- the newsletter of the Automation & Scientific Development SIS of AALL, for
those of you who may not know, and no, I don't know how to pronounce it
either. : - ) However, my ride home was chomping at the bit to leave, so I
blessed the machine and left the posting for this morning. I will complete
that task below, but the short answer to your question is that Automatome
temporarily ceased publication altogether, not just the online version, due
to an unsettling round of job changes among the editor(s) and officers of the
SIS.
As a former editor I know how difficult it is to keep Automatome going
in the best of times. While hundreds of people want to get it, far fewer are
as anxious to contribute to it. Ah well, that's human nature, I suppose. In
any event, it is about to resume publication; please see the posting below
from the new editor, Lucinda Harrison-Cox.
If anyone who has not already contacted her has an item of possible
interest for this issue or any future issues, I'm sure that she would welcome
your contribution! Automation - and all that goes with it - is the great
adventure of our times and I don't doubt that you are all having as much fun
(*grin*) as we are with technology in the (virtual) workplace, so please
share your experiences, plans, travails, concerns, philosophy & vision with
us via Automatome. As this is not a journal, contributions need not be long,
formal or foot-noted to death, either.
Happy Holidays!

RE: Automatome

For those folks who kindly agreed to write articles for the Automatome and
had begun to think I'd forgotten them, the time has come to submit those
articles. I know that my recent job change slowed everything down, but I'm
ready to accept articles now. I do not have Internet access yet, so all
submissions must be in print or on disk. Print copies can be faxed. Please
submit your articles by January 10th. If there is any problem with this
date, please call or write me.

I can be reached at:
     Roger Williams University Law Library
     Ten Metacom Avenue
     Bristol, RI 02809-5171
     phone: (401) 254-4533
     fax: (401) 254-4543

Thank you for your patience and your articles.
Lucinda Harrison-Cox, Editor, Automatome
