Ruth - The Boy Scouts clearly has some abhorrent policies, and it would be
valuable for the AALL _AS AN ORGANIZATION_ to try to bring about reform.
However, Mark Estes' generous offer to show his library to a group of kids
REGARDLESS OF THEIR AFFILIATION outweighs any reservations you might have. In
support of this, I refer you to Article 2 of the AALL constitution:
"...to promote and enhance the value of law libraries to the public...".
Mark has shown himself to be a sensitive and able leader whose request
for assistance on this should not and will not be prohibited. As custodians
of the sources of law, we must be careful to keep separate our professional
duties from our personal prejudices, and to avoid unilateral calls for
censorship. It is a privilege to be a member of such an enlightened community.
