Today's New York Times ("NYT") reports that the NYT News
Service, constituting approximately 90% of the NYT's text,
will be available on-line on Dow Jones next spring. It will
join the Wall Street Journal on Dow Jones.

The NYT will be available ON THE DATE OF PUBLICATION on Dow
Jones. The NYT on Nexis has a 24-hour lag. "The New York
Times [will be] delivered fresh to [subscribers']
'electronic doorstep' each morning," announced the NYT's
          publisher.

Westlaw offers its full-price subscribers a gateway to Dow
Jones. Students who prefer Westlaw to Lexis will be happy
to know that when they graduate and enter the "real" (i.e.,
full-price) world, they will be able to search the NYT on
Westlaw. And who knows? Maybe we academics can persuade
West to grant us access to Dow Jones on our educational
          subscriptions.
