Creating a map of the library

Hi -
I'm trying to figure out an easy way to produce a map of the library.
At my last firm, one of my employees produced a very nice looking map using
Pagemaker, though it took him many, many hours. At my new firm we don't
have Pagemaker, and I don't have that same employee either!
Short of spending the hours to learn a desktop publishing software, is
there an easier way to do a map? Specifically, I had wondered if any of
those cheap software packages at Egghead that are intended to be used to
plan your furniture in your house would conveniently be adapted to this
purpose. It's a bit hard to know until you break open the box and try it,
so I thought I'd check around and see if anyone had done this. My furniture
at home is arranged just fine, so I don't want to buy one of these things if
it won't really work. <g>
Any other suggestions? I have Wordperfect 5.2 at work. Hmm. I wonder
if I could make real skinny boxes that look like shelves. I just hate to go
back to that hand-drawn amateurish looking handout.
