organization of law school and library computing centers

Pace Law School currently has two computer services centers: one in
the library and one for the rest of the law school. We are looking
into the coordination of these centers, both for efficiency and to
provide better service. The question arises whether it is better to
have computer services as a separate department of the law school,
coordinating with the library where information services are
concerned, or whether it is better for the law school computer center
to be a department of the library itself, with the library taking
charge of information and computing services as a whole.

I have been asked to do a quick and dirty survey of current practice
in this area. It seems to me that some law schools probably get all
their computing services from a university computing center, that
some get them from a law school computing center, that some get them
through the library and some have some hybrid or combination of the
above.

I would be interested in finding out from all who are reading this
what the practice is at your law school and what your experience with
it has been. Also, if your organization uses some hybrid system, are
there conflicts and if so who resolves them?

It might be best if all answers were directed to me personally at :

I would be happy to summarize responses and publish them here.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
