>From the various messages sent to me directly and to the TEKNOIDS, INT-LAW,
LAW-LIB, CYBERLAW, LAWSRC-L, & LAWSCH-L lists, I think we have the
following potential lists, hosts, and listowners:

List? Host? Listowner?

                         Cornell (Tom Bruce,
                         tom@law.mail.cornell.edu) &
                         Indiana University
                         (Will Sadler,
                         will@ogre.cica.indiana.edu)
are interested in being hosts generally
so contact them if you have a list in mind

                                                       Sally A. Irvin,
                                                       irvin@ac.wfunet.wfu.edu,
                                                       is generally
                                                       interested in
                                                       running a law
                                                       list

Practicing lawyers ??? ???

LAWPROF-L Chicago-Kent Ed Richards,
                         (David E. Kiefer, 276-6610@mcimail.com
                         DKIEFER@KENTNET) or
                         IU (Will Sadler)

list were created

Feminist Jurisprudence Indiana University ???
                         (Will Sadler,
                          will@ogre.cica.indiana.edu)

Lists for student groups Chicago-Kent ???
(Student Bar Assoc, (John Mayer,
BLSA, HLSA, etc.) jmayer@mail.kentlaw.edu)

"Seeded" groups with
anchor subscribers such Chicago-Kent ???
as TAXPROF, INTLAWPROF, (David Kiefer)
TORTSPROF, CONLAWPROF...

I think I got it all. Please let me know if I left anybody out. I suggest
that others interested in having their institutions host/be the site for the
running of a list or interested in being the owner/moderator of a list please
post this information. It looks like listowners are needed (though the lists
can be started without having a separate person who's willing to answer
questions about the list and help with technical problems, plus recruit
subscribers to lists).

I suggest people interested in running a list contact the persons who've
offered to be host sites. You might get an idea about what running a list is
like by subscribing for a short while to LSTOWN-L@INDYCMS (for listowners of
the Eric Thomas VM LISTSERV software--used by most BITNET lists). In fact, I
recommend setting up BITNET listservs because most people are familiar with
the protocols for them. If you need a host site other than the ones offered
above, you can ask if any institution is willing to set up your list via
LSTOWN-L. Perhaps also NEW-LIST@NDSUVM1 (or @vm1.nodak.edu) although
that usually for either announcing new lists or asking if one already exists.

Finally, I've been speaking of Internet/BITNET lists/conferences, not Usenet
newsgroups. There are several law-related newsgroups such as misc.legal. A
plan is in the works to create a misc.legal.[moderated or professional] also.
The idea is to create lists that do not have "sophomoric" level discussions
as one responder told me otherwise faculty sign off.

Also, since my first posting, we've been informed of other existing law lists
(H-LAW, INFO-LAW, CNI-COPYRIGHT (this one is great!), & CALI-L).

So looks like we're making progress. Good luck everyone!

Regards,
Lyo.
