the whale's tale or a tailing apostrophe...

this e-mail's apostrophe clearly belongs to a s i n g u l a r piece of
e-mail or email or poste electronique. In fact, the apostrophe serves the
diverse functions of poetically signifying letters left out of a "proper"
spelling (although we're seeing that "proper" spelling is rapidly becoming
history), a possessive indicator (e.d. that's Peter's book etc), and in
"bad English" plural. O n e e-mail's distribution is not the same as
s e v e r a l e-mails' distribution...

Oh what tangled WWW we weave
As we conspire to deceive
Ourselves to think that standards prevail
When we email to no avail
