One place you might look is the *Of Counsel 700*, the annual survey issue
of the periodical *Of Counsel*, published by Prentice Hall/Aspen Law &
Business. The most recent issue I have is May, 1994, so a new one should
come out soon. It lists the biggest firms in the country, by state, and
many of the entries have billings rates for partners, associates, and
paralegals. Maybe you could work up an average from this.
