The Law Library of the Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System, Washington, DC, is seeking a
Reference/Cataloging Librarian.
The Federal Reserve System is the central bank of the
United States. The system is composed of the Board of
Governors, which is an independent government agency, and
twelve regional Reserve Banks. The Federal Reserve System
is responsible for formulating U.S. monetary policy;
supervising and regulating certain financial institutions
and activities; providing banking services to depository
institutions and to the federal government; and implementing
certain consumer protection statutes.
The Law Library serves attorneys and other staff of
the Board, and to a lesser extent, Federal Reserve Bank
staff, personnel from other government agencies, and the
general public. The Reference/Cataloging Librarian is a new
position, reporting to the Law Librarian. Other staff
include a Legislative Librarian, Law Library Assistant, and
part-time technician.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility is to provide legal and
legal-related reference and research service and assist
users of online and CD-ROM services.
Other areas of responsibility include cataloging
selected library materials and assisting in library
automation support. Will produce newsletter, brochures, and
other publications to promote library services, and recommend
new materials and services for acquisition.
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Library Science and a minimum of
two years professional law library experience. Advanced
knowledge of legal research, online searching, and library
automation. Pro-active service orientation. Ability to
work independently and manage a diverse workload. Excellent
oral and written communications skills.
Starting salary:
$40,400-50,500; excellent benefits.
