Position Title: Associate Librarian - Portland, Oregon Office

Job Status: Full time, Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00; non-exempt

Reports To: Director of Library Information Services

Job Summary:

Supervises staff for Portland office; provides research and reference
services for the firm's attorneys, staff and clients, using print and
electronic resources; provides training and support in research and library
use techniques, including CALR and CD-ROM; coordinates Research Bank for
Region 2 (Oregon and California offices); selects acquisitions, monitors
collection and works within assigned budgets.

Supervises:

Portland office library staff, currently 3 full time equivalents, and
supports part-time library technician in Los Angeles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

=FE provides reference and research services, including interlibrary
   loans, document retrieval; records billable and non-billable time;
   actively markets services
=FE supervises, evaluates, hires and trains Portland staff
=FE develops training classes and materials for electronic resources, as
   well as library research techniques; provides library orientation for
   attorneys and staff
=FE monitors Region 2 budget; approves invoices; selects new acquisitions;
   works with local vendors; reviews collection and subscriptions
=FE actively develops Research Bank, collects materials, indexes and
   markets this resource
=FE develops long range plans, including space planning
=FE oversees the ongoing development of catalog records for Region 2

Skills Sought:

Working knowledge of the U.S. legal system and related legal materials;
working knowledge of federal and state legislative process; computer
searching ability on a variety of electronic systems, including Westlaw,
Lexis/Nexis, Knight Ridder, Datatimes, Dow Jones, WLN, Dun & Bradstreet and
EPIC; experience with CD-ROM products and microcomputer applications;
familiarity with ISYS and InMagic helpful; excellent oral and written
communications skills; experience in providing training classes and
individual instruction; leadership skills and the ability to work in a
diverse, demanding and changing environment.

Education and Experience Required: ALA accredited M.L.S., plus a minimum
of four years experience, including some supervisory experience; preferred
experience in a law library.
